One side effect of the Salone was that it made me painfully aware of how susceptible we are to trends. With Instagram and Pinterest, it has never been easier to influence and be influence - or in some cases blatantly copy. And in the Feria every other stall had the design features that are particularly 'in' at the moment. For me, personally, it was an eyeopener as to what to avoid, even if it's things I also enjoy looking at (because I'm probably just as influenced as any other designer):

1. The Arches
Ok, Rome was amazing. We rediscovered it, and started using arches here and there to make any hospitality interior so unique and innovative - which is ironic, since they've been around literally for centuries. I feel that nowadays designers are on a mission to outdo the ancient times in the amount of arches used only in Milan!
2. Salmon Pinks
The trend that has surprisingly been around in the last few years is still going strong. I did really enjoy the fluffy pink floor though...
3. Tropical planting
I am all about biophilic design and a firm believer that we need more green in our lives. I do find it funny, though, that designers select the same plants I see over Pinterest. Usually tropical with Fiddle Leafs and Cheese Plants being the top.
The absolute winner is Magis. They just went for it - everything was in peachy pastels; all the doors were arched; and they had tropical plants for decoration. And despite what I wrote above... I have to admit I loved it!
